Alfred Charles Merrick November 14, 1942 March 21, 2010, known professionally as Rockie Charles was an American Blues singer, songwriter and guitarist from New Orleans. Charles was born in Boothville, Louisiana and learned to play guitar from his father, Earlington, a travelling bluesman who played juke joints in the segregated Plaquemines Parish, Louisiana. Charles moved to New Orleans aged 13. Louisiana-based guitaristvocalist, Rockie Charles' inaugural outing for Orleans records comes after years of workmanlike episodes in the music business, including a minor hit, titled The President of Soul, PT. 1 & 2, recorded in 1970 for Soulgate Records. Charles I was born in Fife on 19 November 1600, the second son of James VI of Scotland and Anne of Denmark. On the death of Elizabeth I in 1603 James became king of England and Ireland. Charles's popular older brother Henry, whom he adored, died in 1612 leaving Charles as heir, and in 1625 he became king. Three months after his accession he married Henrietta Maria of France. They had a happy marriage and left five surviving children. Directed by Yvonne Smith. With Ray Charles, Billy Joel, Quincy Jones, Willie Nelson. Title: Ray Charles: The Genius of Soul 03 Jan 1992. Don Was, the president of Blue Note Records, also played bass on two tunes. In the late 1960s, when he became a popular sensation, Mr. Lloyd was among the few who saw jazzs popular decline and rock n rolls ascent not as conflicting forces, but as waves already in flow together. Into it he mixes the soul-opening honk of Albert Ayler, full of enough breath to evoke a door blowing wide open the winding intensity of John Coltrane and the troubled placidity of Lester Young
